I found myself crying to a romantic comedy tonight and it somehow got me thinking about how being single isn't really that bad.
And no as a disclaimer, I am NOT single in anyway.
Which is why I thought this would be so fitting to write about how being single is amazing (not in a cliche way at all).
I started thinking as the end credits rolled up from the movie that being single is not as bad as we all think. Yes it sucks not having that certain someone always there, but hear me out.
I am jealous that single people get to experience meeting their significant other for the FIRST time. They get to go through that stage of crazy happiness that turns them back into a middle school girl when they meet someone and get those butterfly feelings. They get to experience their mind all over the place about this GREAT person that just showed up in their life.
I am jealous of that fresh feeling and where being called cute is a BIG deal, and definitely isn't as laid back as being in a long term relationship. I am jealous of JUST finding out new and amazing things about this new person.
So what i'm really trying to say is, being single is so exciting. Knowing that in any moment you could turn around and there THEY are. Which starts the chain reaction of a beautiful friendship with someone you'll come to love, flaws and all. It really is the most magical part of a new relationship.
Although I did say that I am jealous of all that, I am also very very happy with my significant other and all that he contributes to our happy life together. I still feel butterflies when he looks my way.
Single or not, realize the amazing things in your life and don't take them for granted.
